EditX-Traction / Magna-Traction Class Racing Rules:
Note: Track power is supplied at 18 volts.
The FRHO X-Traction/MagnaTraction Restricted Class will use low-cost, readily available chassis and bodies. The goal is to create a closely competitive class of cars that are inexpensive to build/race. This class allows the use of the new Johnny Lightning X-Traction chassis/bodies or the older Aurora Magnatraction chassis/bodies from the 1970’s. Class uses low-cost, readily available chassis' and bodies with a limited amount of change allowed.
EditX-Traction / Magna-Traction Class Body Rules
- Auto World/Johnny Lightning, Aurora AFX/G+, or hard body reproduction, off-brand or reissue bodies shall be used (clip on style).
- Bodies may be lightened and/or lowered. However, exaggerated cutting of the wheel wells will not be allowed (the intended appearance of the car must be retained).
- Wings may be removed from bodies to facilitate handling.
- The front windshield and rear window are required. Replacement lexan/plastic windows may be used.
- If the body has an interior, the interior must remain in place.
- If originally equipped, bumpers must be present.
- Car must pass freely through a 1-5/16" (1.313 inches) Tech Block.
EditX-Traction / Magna-Traction Class Chassis Rules
- Stock Auto World/Johnny Lightning (AW/JL) X-Traction or Aurora MagnaTraction chassis and gearplate shall be used.
- No gear ratio changes are allowed. Gears may be replaced with readily available stock parts. Aftermarket replacement crown gears are allowed. Metal idler gears are allowed on either chassis/top plate.
- Armatures may be balanced, trued, and/or air gapped. Stock AW/JL armatures or Aurora armatures may be used. The 3-lam JL armatures must have a resistance greater than 13.0 ohms.
- The 2-lam armatures must have a resistance greater than 7.0 ohms. No “Mean Green” or “Tuff-One” armatures are allowed.
- Stock magnets only. No polymer, neodium, or other high performance magnets are allowed. Only non-metallic magnet shims will be allowed. No additional magnets are allowed.
- Motor brushes supported by springs must be used. However, any readily available motor brushes will be allowed.
- Stock or stock replacement stepped pickup shoes shall be used. Pickup shoes can be sanded and/or bent. Restricting travel of the pickup shoe is allowed. Full length pickup shoes are not allowed.
- Replacement metal guide pins can be used in place of the stock plastic guide pin.
- Brass Wheel Weights or equivalent can be used on the stock front ends (original rims and axle).
- Any size front tire can be used. Tires may be glued onto rims. O-ring tires may be used.
- Any silicone or rubber slip-on tire(s) can be used for rear tires. Stock rear rims or replacement plastic double-flanged rims can be used.
- Solid rear axles shall be used (no hollow axles). Replacement axles are allowed. Rear axles/crown gears may be shimmed.
