Stock Class Racing Rules:

Note: Track power is supplied at 18 volts.

Stock Body Specifications

  1. The body must completely cover the chassis when viewed from above except for legal stock openings (i.e. windows).
  2. Each body must have a front windshield and rear window. If originally equipped, bumpers must be present.
  3. The body must be T-Jet original, a hard body reproduction, an off-brand or re-issue (Aurora, Model Motoring, Road Race Replicas, Auto World/Johnny Lightning, Furuli). Body must be T-jet sized (approx. 1/72 to 1/87 scale) and equipped with 2 screw posts. Open wheel bodies (Indy, Gran Prix, hot rod, etc.) not permitted. Bodies incorporating excess resin to lower the center of gravity will not be allowed.
  4. The body may be lowered and lightened, but not be weighted.
  5. Fender wells may have minimal cutting for tire clearance provided body rule #1 is not violated.
  6. Two screws must be used to mount the body to the chassis. Screw heads may be ground down for track clearance. Any screws can be used (plastic or metal) to secure the body to the chassis.
  7. Hardtop cars such as Falcons and Mustangs may remove the interiors. Convertibles must have a finished interior and windshield.
  8. Car must pass freely through a 1-3/16" (1.188 inches) Tech Block.

If you are unsure if a body is legal, check with the tech committee prior to the race. Any other modifications are deemed illegal unless approved by tech committee.

Stock Chassis Specifications

  1. Chassis must be stock Aurora Thunderjet copper. Tuff Ones chassis (silver plated) not permitted. Model Motoring Thunderplus chassis is allowed. Solder between chassis plates may be used to correct chassis with excess internal corrosion. Excess solder, which may constitute chassis weighting, is not allowed.
  2. Removal of the gear plate RAIL, forward of the arm gear hole is permitted; patent number must be legible. No other cutting, grinding, or drilling of chassis or gear plate is permitted.
  3. Solder or glue is allowed to attach gears to shafts.
  4. The gear plate must use stock brass armature pinion and 24-tooth brass idler and driven gears. Gears may be polished to provide a smooth mesh but not be drilled, beveled, thinned, or altered. Hollow-back gears are not permitted.
  5. Stock Aurora guide pins or stock type replacements are allowed and may be shortened to desired length. The guide pin hole may be beveled/enlarged. Gluing of guide pins to chassis permitted.
  6. Drive gears must be metal 9-tooth drive pinion with a stock or aftermarket stock replacement T-jet 15-tooth crown gear.
  7. Armatures must have no more than two-laminations and be 15.5 ohms or higher. No de-winds, rewinds, or timing adjustments are permitted. Arms may be balanced and/or epoxied and air gapped.
  8. Magnets may be stock T-jet, red/white Tuff Ones, Super II, or Auto World/Johnny Lightningä magnets. Magnets may be shimmed with non-ferrous material. No polymer magnets permitted. No additional magnets are allowed.
  9. Brushes must be flat (no domes or grooved) stock or stock replacement T-jet copper/carbon (No silver brushes). Cross-hatching of brushes to prevent spinning is allowed.
  10. Pickup shoes may be stock or stock replacement (copper only). This includes aftermarket stepped pickup shoes. Alteration to the stock shape of the shoe is permitted only to limit travel and/or ensure contact with the track rail. Excess bending to flatten the shoe and increase the contact patch of the pickup shoe with the track rail is not permitted.
  11. Stock T-jet sized hubs and narrow T-jet sized slip-on silicone tires permitted. Plastic, commercially available double flange wheels for stock width tires are permitted for rear hubs only. Johnny Lightning or Tuff-One front hubs and axles are permitted as long as the car passes freely through a 1-3/16" (1.188 inches) Tech Block. Any front tire is allowed (including O-ring front tires).
  12. Replacement axles are allowed. Rear axles/crown gears may be shimmed.
