EditIROC Class Car Pictures
The FRHO was one of the first HO scale slot car racing groups to adopt IROC style racing.
The goal is to offer similarly prepared cars to each racer, which (in theory) allows for the driving ability of the racers to shine through all the way to the finish line. Here's some pictures of recently prepared and used IROC slot cars...
Brett Ginsberg's Stock fastback Mustangs |
Smooth handling cars - Brett built some winners here. They were all within tenths of a second in lap time. Nice Job Brett!
 Walt Pierce's Stock Willy's |
These Willy's were setup stock, stock, stock... They handled just like when we were kids so you could power slide it through the turns - what a fun race that was. Looking forward to running these again!
 Walt Pierce's Super II's |
Lightning fast on the straightaway's but tough to slow down for the corners - these Super II replicas required patience to drive properly. A real challenge for the hard chargers who like maximum braking in their own cars 'cause these cars didn't want to slow down!
Brett Ginsberg's Johnny Lightning Batmobiles |
You'd think that these wouldn't handle very well - much to everyone surprise they handled incredible well. Nice paint jobs Brett!
 Tony Vourax's Tyco Motorcycles |
These bikes were a hoot to drive - luckily the traction magnet on the bottom works well enough to make laps without sweating every turn.
Tony Vourax's Indy Cars with JL chassis |
Set up the exact same as a SPEC class car these handle only so-so. Subsequently we've not gotten a chance to use them in club racing - yet!
 Tony Vourax's AFX Daytonas |
These bodies had no wing when they were resurrected for this event. Careful placement & reinforcement of styrene brought them back to their glory days of driving the high banks. They handled very well for something with so much weight up top.
 Jon Soffa's Road Runners |
Great handling X-Traction chassis made these cars simple to drive. Now where's that cruise control button...
Tony Vourax's Dash Motorsports Roadsters |
Completed last summer we've been waiting for the correct time to unveil them to the club. I just wonder how long one of those wings will last during a race.
