Aston Martin, winners of the 1959 World Constructors Championship introduced in the same year their 3.7-litre, 140m.p.h' DB 4. This highly sophisticated car was an immediate success. It had a new light alloy double overhead camshaft engine developed from the World Championship winning DBR 1 sports racers.
The Italian body designed by
Superleggera Touring is built under license in Great Britain. The first DB 4 was followed by a shorter, lightweight GT version. weighing around 25 cwt. The engine developed some 302 BHP. Intended mainly for competition, these GT cars have recorded numerous successes in the hands of private owners, both at home and overseas.
