E-type Jaguar Today's production E-type owes much to the earlier racing D's from which it has been developed The design of the twin overhead camshaft 6-cylinder engine, the monocoque construction of combined frame and body and Dunlop disc brakes can all be attributed to racing experience.

The victories of the D-type were many, with an amazing succession of Jaguar victories at Le Mans in 1951. '53, '55, '56 and '57. When it was introduced in 1961 it is not surprising that with such a background the E-type achieved instant success on the track. Its exceptional performance, clean virile design, combined with a moderate price makes it a highly desirable car in a class of its own Almost overnight the E-type was accepted by the general public as the ultimate success-symbol.
