EditThe Monogram Midget
Although
Midget Racing's popularity was largely over by the mid-1950s, a nostalgic interest in 1960s led to Monogram adapting their static model Midget kit to fit a brass and aluminum slot car frame, then adding the 82 piece 1:24 Midget kit to their 1966 slot car line-up as illustrated in the catalog above.
Low Sales, High Collectibility
Unfortunately this little open wheeled slot car was a bit under-powered compared to other 1:24 Monongram offerings, containing the Monogram Tiger X-88 as opposed to the Tiger X-100 found in most of the other Monogram slot cars. The low sales numbers and high level of detail of this model (like body rivets and accurate structural lines) make the Monogram Midget a coveted prize for todays slot car collectors.
