EditRead This Before Assembly Of Your Road Race Set
Before assembling your set for the first time, read through the instructions carefully and examine the drawings and photographs to become thoroughly familiar with all the parts of your set. Your Monogram Le Mans Road Race Set was designed to withstand all but the severest of abuse. The Monolock track sections were designed to lock together securely, so if they seem a little tight, just push them together firmly until the adjoining edges are flush. Make sure the metal strips fit tightly into each other. When dis-assembling the track sections, pull them apart carefully until the lock tabs disengage. The sections then will come apart readily. The car bodies are made of high-impact polystyrene plastic to withstand all of the normal strain of racing without breaking. However, they should not be deliberately run into each other. When the set is not in use, the transformer should be switched to the off position. To be doubly safe, disconnect the plug from your wall outlet.
EditDecals
A decal sheet has been supplied to further decorate your racing cars, if you so desire. Apply racing numbers to door areas and other emblems in locations shown here and on the box art. Cut away portion of decal to be applied with scissors. Dip the decal in water for a few moments until it slides easily on the paper backing. Next slide the decal onto the car in correct position. After the decal is in correct position, press out trapped air bubbles and blot with a soft cloth.
EditMonogram RS3001 Racing Set Features
Your new Monogram Le Mans Road Race Set was engineered for many hours of enjoyment throughout the year. Many of the features of this set are unique and new. One of the outstanding features is "dynamic braking". This is a system whereby the rear wheels of the car are "braked" when the control handle plunger is in the full up position. This enables the drivers to run their cars faster by being able to "stay on it" longer when approaching the turns and applying the brakes just before entering a turn. Some of the other fine features include hi-impact, one piece styrene bodies with amazing detail molded right in, one piece sturdy lightweight brass chassis, bronze rear bearings, professional nylon pin guide for fast easy replacement into track slot, floating front axle suspension for positive four wheel contact, real racing rubber tires which mount on highly detailed, plated, ribbed wheels to prevent tire slippage and give instant acceleration, constant mesh nylon crown gear for smooth silent operation, Monogram's famous proven Tiger X-100 motor, light, high visibility flexible track with sure grip surface, rugged "smooth-flow" control handles that fit your hand and are comfortable to use hour after hour, and a constant 12 volt D.C. color keyed power pack with built-in circuit breaker. All of these features combine to give you the finest home road racing equipment available.
Auto racing started before the turn of the century, not long after the advent of the automobile. Today it is said to be the second largest spectator sport in the world. All of us could not possibly be racing drivers or participants, but most of us get that urge from time to time. This Monogram Le Mans Road Race Set is designed to give you all of the thrills of road-racing without the expense or the danger. As you get the feel of the control handle and see the reaction of your car, your enjoyment will become keener and you will find that you are able to race lap after lap without spinning out or upsetting your car.
When you have mastered the basic figure eight layout, several other layouts are shown in this booklet that can be assembled using the track sections supplied with the set. Changing to other layouts will increase your enjoyment and test your driving ability. Layouts requiring additional track sections are also shown, starting with those requiring only a few additional sections. If you have the space, plan a large track. With more track, the variations that can be assembled are almost limitless.
