EditBetter Driving and Sportsmanship
Remember, you can't win them all. If you constantly have trouble although you do everything in the book to go well, the problem might be "YOU". If this occurs, have one of the best drivers at your track run your car. It might go like a flash. Then you will know that it is you that needs improvement. You are the key to the car. The best car on the track cannot win without a good driver. Here are some basics to follow:Concentrate
See nothing but your car and its position on the track.
Lose Graciously
You can come back and win another day. Take all wins with humility - someone new can come along, someone old can get hot. Remember, winning is only part of the fun of the game.
Lead Your Car
Learn to lead your car with your eye as you watch for problems ahead. This might seem to contradict the previous statement, but you will find you can keep your car in sight while scanning the area just ahead at the same time. You can avoid accidents, deslotting or being deslotted through pre-timing in a trouble area.
EditFinal Checks
- Since all tracks are not wired uniformly, switch the motor lead wires that lead to the pick-up shoe or guide flag if car runs backwards.
- If you feel added weight will improve your car's performance, mount the weight as low as possible and toward the rear.
- Constantly check your car for proper alignment and free rotation of parts. Make sure nothing drags or rubs, regardless of the angle of the car.
Remember... front runners and consistent competitors spend that extra time on their cars before every race. You can gain from the extra effort.
