Parma Womp-Womps

Image
Parma created the Womp Womps, however like the early Garvic term "Thingie", the term "Womp" has come to generally refer to Lexan bodied, pan-chassis'd 1:32 racers like those from Champion, Riggen and a few others.
Image
Considered by most to be a "starter" 1:32 scale slot racing car, Parma Womp Womps tend to be a bit fragile straight out of the box. Due to the mounting of the can style inline motor, crashing a womp womp can quickly bring the gears out of alignment. However with a little soldering skill and a piece of piano wire or two between the axle carrier and motor mount, you can beef a Womp up for the the type of "wall-shot" that competitive slot car racing will surely bring.
Image
The picture above is a heavier brass chassis from Parma designed to replace the stock Womp chassis. Like the later steel chassis', the brass chassis allows for extending the wheelbase from a stock 3.00" to 3.25" to further improve handling.

Womp Womps came standard with a 16D, however racers looking for more power might consider a stronger Cheetah motor as a replacement. Stronger motors combined with additional weight behind the guide flag will also provide better handling for your Womp, turning it into quite a terror around most 1:32 tracks!

Parma Flexi-Chassis

Image
The early 1:24 Parma Flexi-Chassis pictured above ushered in a new wave of entry-level building in the early 1980s. Parma's current Flexi-Chassis is a bit more sophisticated, however most slot car racers agree that the Parma's original Flexi-Chassis is responsible for the general style of 1:24 Wing-style chassis offered today.

Parma Slot Car Controllers

Parma makes a variety of controllers to improve on the standard slot race set controllers. Some Parma controllers come pre-wired with the correct plugs for Scalextric Classic track, Scalextric Sport track, or Ninco track. Parma produces controllers in more than one ohm resistance level.

  • Parma controllers with 3 wires (brakes)
  • Parma 3-wire 25 ohm controller - works well for high performance cars.

3 wire design allows 3rd red wire to be connected as brake wire (optional). Wiring diagram included with controller. Can be wired for any brand or scale of slot car track.
